Puppy Love

I took our son to our local Humane Society to look at all the dogs, and pick one out for adoption. This puppy was of course his first choice!! And it was the only puppy there. We couldn't take her home that day, because she had only been there 3 days, and that's how long they give for someone to claim them. Can you believe this was a stray? How sad.

But of course we will give her love!! Our 9 year old Beagle is still adjusting to this playful one, but he will be just fine :)

She's off to the Vet next week for her first check up. It's been 6 years since we had a puppy in the house. Lots of no, no's! She loves shoes, so those are the first things to put out of her reach! :)

See, I said she'd get lots of love!! :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Art Journal

Today I am sharing my first journal page. I've been inspired for quite some time by all the mixed media pages and canvases that I see around the internet. And also by Yvonne, who's blog I've been following for years. She always makes the most lovely pages, so I thought I would finally give it a go.

I don't own a journal, nor was going to buy one, as I have all the materials to create my own. I have the cute, pink Zutter Bind-it-all machine that has been sitting unused for years. I actually had to read the instruction manual on how to use it again!! I made the covers with chipboard, and they measure 5"x7" and the pages are a bit smaller and are made with a watercolor paper pad. It measures 9"x12" so am able to get two pages from one sheet.

For this page, I started by watercoloring the background with Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron. After a quick dry with my heat tool, I began stamping the images from the Butterfly Basics photopolymer set. I wanted my first page to be simple, but it needed something else, so I used some Micro Fine glitter that I've had and added it to the leaves and butterflies. I used the glue pen on the images where I wanted sparkle, then shook on the glitter.

A perfect start to my new Art Journal I think. Maybe next time I'll get the stencils out. And also, I'm going to try my best and stick with it. Making one page a week. Then I'll have to figure out what to do with the covers!! :)

Thanks so much for having a look!!

Grateful Friend

Today's Girly card uses up a few more scraps, and again am using the English Garden papers. The long banner tag was die cut with the Deco Framelits, but I only cut the very top of the tag with it. It gives the tag a fancy top without using a tag punch.

A little spotty stamping with the Gorgeous Grunge set along the side of the card, and the sentiment is from the Merry Everything set, and punched with the Note Tag punch. It's a very soft, pretty card, with just a touch of bold with the Melon Mambo greeting and heart border piece.

Thank you for visiting, and enjoy your weekend!!

Double Masking Video

Here is a video tutorial for the card I shared a couple of days ago. I made the same card in the video, but reversed the colors, and used a different background stamp.

Thanks for watching!!

Extreme Masking

While browsing through some of my older posts from years ago, I came across a Christmas tag I made that used the Extreme Masking technique. I haven't done this in years, and thought that the Stars framelits would be perfect for this!

You use both the positive and negative parts of the mask. It gives you a wonderful image that pops right off the page, but yet is all one layer.

This will be perfect for the upcoming 4th of July celebration! Supplies I used are below. And I'm sure there is a video tutorial somewhere on YouTube for this, but I got it from Tim Holtz's first book.

Thank you for having a look!!

It has been a long time since I did a one layer card. This is the challenge at CAS on Sunday, so I thought I'd join in. It was hard to not add more, but that's why it's a challenge!

I did add a border to the top with a paper piercing stencil. My fine tip marker fits perfectly into the holes. The supplies I used are below. Thank you for stopping by!!

All Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Using Up Scraps

It was high time that I start using up some of my scraps, punch outs, trims, and other embellishments. I have quite the collection going on!! Both of these cards were made with nothing but scraps, except for stamping the sentiments.

The first card is my absolute favorite color combo, and was happy to have enough scraps to make it. The doily actually has it's center punched out, but I had another punched circle to cover it up. Little pieces of papers, trims, and even the stamped/punched flower was in the bin. Perfect!!

The second one here also uses up some pretty trims. The die cut frame is not from Stampin' Up!, but I just had to use it! The stamped/cut bird is a left over from Halloween I think, but is perched perfectly in the corner.

Most of these items are all retired from Stampin' Up!, except for the sentiment stamps. But that really doesn't matter to me, if you have it, use it!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a great weekend!!

Scene Stamping

Sometimes I struggle with making a cute scene with stamp images, then other times it just falls into place. This card was kind of in the middle. I knew I wanted to use the basket and leaves images from Sprinkles of life, so I stamped and cut those out first.

Then chose the designer paper for the grass, stamped the tree on the card base as well as the sun and clouds. Then when I put the basket on the grass, something just looks funny to me. Maybe too much dsp grass, basket too large for the tree? I don't know, but I didn't fuss with it and left it as is!!

It's still cute to me, so that's good enough!! The tiny flowers are from the tree builder punch, which go along with this stamp set. Maybe that's what it needs, more flowers!! Anyway, thanks so much for having a look!

Catalog Inspiration

Having a bit of a lull in my crafting last week, I looked to the new Stampin' Up! catalog for inspiration. I found this card, although my stamps and papers are different than the original. I like the layers of it, and the touch of burlap.

The flower image in the background is from Butterfly Basics, the round piece I stamped with the tree top from Sheltering Tree, and the woodgrain I stamped with the Hardwood background stamp. The rest is dsp and card stock.

Two butterfly punches are the perfect accent, and I even embossed the white one. The sentiment is one I've used already from the One Big Meaning set, I love the cursive script.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Here are the colors I used,, Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Basic Black.

Window Card

Today I have a video tutorial sharing how I made this card using the new Brick Wall embossing folder. I can see many ways to use this folder, and I've only just begun!

This is a very simple CAS card, with a timeless design. Enjoy the video....

For a Pet Vet

I had to make a Thank You card for the very kind Pet Vet who saw us in an emergency this weekend. She's not our regular Vet, but she will be from now on. We weren't there very long before Chief past on, and she didn't even charge us for coming. She told us to just pay it forward. I'll always remember her gratitude.

The dog themed papers I have had for many years, I use them in their scrapbooks. I don't know the maker of them, but the rest of the supplies are of course from Stampin' Up! The sentiment was perfect for this card, and comes from the brand new One Big Meaning set. It's a set full of thank you's.

Thank you for having a look today.

A Goodbye and a Hello

I first want to share that we sadly lost our good best friend, Chief this past Saturday. He got Gastric Dialation, or stomach twist. It was very sudden, and such a shock to us. We are very sad to have lost our beautiful big boy, but I will always remember the 5 wonderful years we spent with him. I'd like to share a few of my favorite photos of him with you.

               We'll miss you Chief.....

Now onto the Hello part of this post. Say Hello to a few of the new products out of the Stampin' Up! catalog:

Brand new Thick Whisper White card stock. This is the same thickness as our regular card stock, perfect for card bases!! The designer series paper is called English Garden, isn't it pretty!!

I also used two different stamp sets, Cottage Greetings and One Big Meaning. Love both of these sets!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I appreciate it!

Teacher's Card

Just a quick post today sharing the card I made for my Son's Teacher, Mr. Riggle. School is officially out, and the fun begins! :)

I've used some retired items on this card, most of what I won't let go of!! The pencil and blue paper images are not from Stampin' Up! I've kept these stamps to use on cards like this or his scrapbooks, too cute!

I tried to keep it simple, since it's for a Man, and added the burlap ribbon for texture. Well, it's off for me on this busy day. Thanks for stopping by, and have yourself a great weekend!!

A Mix of Stamp Sets

Hi there! I hope you all got a peek at the new catalog yesterday! I put a link on my sidebar to view the online version! Lots of petty things to ponder over! :)

Today's card uses more of the new In Colors. Tip Top Taupe, Delightful Dijon, Watermelon Wonder, and Mint Macaron. The main panel uses the Butterfly Basics stamp set. The sentiment is from the returning For All Things stamp set(yay!) and I backed it with Delightful Dijon.

I made the front panel a bit smaller, so I stamped the card base with the Hardwood background stamp. The candy dots at the top are not in colors, but are our current colors, and they work so well!!

That's all I have for today, thank you for visiting!!

Catalog Transition Day!!

In case you missed yesterday's post, today is Stampin' Up!'s Catalog Transition Day!! You can order anything from the brand new catalog, along with retiring products, and the Occasions catalog! This offer is for one day only, so starting tomorrow, you will only be able to order from the new catalog.

Now, on with my project! This is a box I've shared before. It's designed by Sam Donald, and she calls it the Flat Topped Box. It's a great sized box, just over 3 inches wide and around 4 inches tall. It also has a good width, perfect for larger goodies! ;)

The box is made from Whisper White card stock, and I've decorated it with the fun, new Cherry On Top designer paper stack. The sentiment is from the returning Crazy About You stamp set, which fits perfectly in the large oval punch.

A button with twine acts as the closure, but has a velcro dot holding it shut. A pretty ribbon bow tied around the top is the perfect finishing touch!

Thanks for stopping by today, and I'll put a link on my side bar to the new 2015-2016 Stampin' Up! catalog!

In Colors Watercolor Thank You

The other day I was playing with the new In Colors. I decided to mix Mint Macaron with last years Lost Lagoon. I used the Flower Shop stamp set, and chose the flower that has a watercolor look. I stamped all over the white layer with both colors, and even stamped off on scrap when using the Lost Lagoon. It's a much darker color.

The sentiment is the Watercolor Thank You, that I die cut with the Deco Labels Framelits. I wanted to break up the background a bit more, so I added a few Whisper White Itty Bitty Accents flower punch outs with rhinestones added to the centers. The card base is also the Lost Lagoon, matching the sentiment.

It makes a pretty monochromatic card using these two colors I think!!  Tomorrow is the big day!! Stampin' Up's new catalog will be available to order from!! :) And also, tomorrow is the only day you can order new, and retired products at the same time!! Then on June 3rd, only current catalog items will be available. Get your lists ready!! :)

Thanks so much for visiting!!
