Mirror Stamping

Today I'm playing along with the Your Next Stamp challenge #58 following their sketch:

I did some mirror stamping on this fox from the YNS Winter Wonderland Phoebe set. I practiced with a couple different inks to see which one gave me the best image, and I ended up using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink. I stamped the fox onto a solid photopolymer stamp, then stamped that onto cardstock. It worked quite well. I colored them in with Spectrum markers. So on a side note, Distress Oxide Inks hold up to alcohol markers!

I made a little scene for them using YNS dies. The patterned paper is YNS as well, the one I've been using a lot lately! I love the patterns and colors! The sentiment is from the YNS Happy Heart set, and I inked it with YNS Black Olive ink. I used my Stamp Perfect Tool, and inked it twice.

A cute little foxy card, and am happy with the mirror image. Thank you for having a look!

Distress Oxide Inks meets Paper Smooches

I got two happy mail packages yesterday!! One was my large Stampin Up order, which was mostly supplies only, card stocks, inks, etc. But I did get two really cute stamp sets for free from the Sale-a-bration promotion that I can't wait to play with. And the other package was the new Distress Oxide inks and this Paper Smooches stamp set called Botanical Builders 2 that I ordered from Ellen Hutson.

I couldn't wait to have a play with these new inks! I played around on small scraps of different card stock, and found it did best on the water color paper I have. For this panel, I only used blue and green for my scene. The splotchy background is really cool, and you can keep adding more layers of color and it will stay on top of the previous one.

After the background was done, I stamped the florals and leaves and just love the richness of the ink, and how it again lays on top of the other inside of being 'see through'. I was never impressed with the regular Distress Inks for stamping, especially using clear photopolymer stamps. But this piece shows that this ink is perfect for them!

I can't wait to get back in the craft room and created more pretty backgrounds with these inks! I can see I'm going to need more water color paper, and the oxide re-inkers!! :)

Thanks for visiting, and there are some great videos on Youtube that show these inks in action, in case your interested in them!

Sharp Birdie

I watched a video from Jennifer McGuire that showed how she used tulle on a window card. I thought it was very cute, so I set out to make one. I have had this yellow tulle for many years, I used to crochet pot scrubbers with it, but it now has use in my paper crafting!

I die cut the card base and blue panel at the same time using a square Die-Versions from Scrapyland. The tulle is glued down to the card base, then the blue panel on top of that. I stamped, paper pieced, and fussy cut the cute birdie from the Smiley Happy Critter Crew Two set from Your Next Stamp. The fun patterns from the retired Stampin Up paper gives this birdie some character. The glasses is a die cut from Taylored Expressions, but were a little too big for his eyes, so I glued them to his wing instead. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set, and I added some enamel Gum Drops from Your Next Stamp to the bottom.

I was also inspired by the CAS on Sunday challenge, where the theme is 'Critters'.

Tidy Up, then Craft

This is what I tackled on Friday. Putting away stuff that has been left out for quite some time! I did also move a couple of my bins around so it would be easier to get to some stamps. I still need to redo my 6x6 paper pads that are on the dresser to the right of this table. The bin they are in is now too small, so will have to be on the lookout for another.

Once everything was put away, and I had my space back, I did make some more boxes to hold embellishments and reinkers.

This is my original one that I made a couple years ago, but the new one looks exactly the same! I love this retired paper from Stampin Up, and have been keeping a whole pack just to use for these.

I don't have a picture of the reinker box, but it looks the same, just smaller. I now have 5 of those boxes, two embellishment ones, and two to hold my framelit dies. As my stash grows, I will need more :)

Thank you for having a look!

Stylish Shoes

While looking for inspiration this morning, I found this wonderful color combo on the CAS on Sunday challenge blog, that I somehow missed. There is only one day left to enter!

I was happy to play along with these colors, and I haven't joined them for quite some time. The first image I thought to use are these cute tennis shoes from the Jan. Unity kotm. I haven't inked this stamp up yet, but I love it! I did substitute the Night of Navy for Not Quite Navy, it's the darkest blue I have. This is water colored with dye inks, and after it was dry and put together, I added some clear Wink of Stella to the flowers.

The sentiment is from the Feb. kotm, and thought it was cute to go along with the shoes. They look just like Converse shoes, which I own two pair of. And I'm always wanting another pair!!

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit!

Coffee

My Unity kit of the month arrived the other day, and I knew that I wanted to used this cute coffee cup image first! Along with your kit they also give you some sort of papers and tags/embellishments as a little Thank You. The large piece that I stamped the cups on and the cute floral piece was part of what came this month.

This image has six cups on it, so I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig so I could get them all lined up fairly straight on the backing piece. I stamped another on a piece of scrap and two patterned papers from C.C. Designs. I paper pieced them for fun wrappers around the cups.

The sentiment is from the same kit, and thought it was perfect for this card. I don't do mocha's, latte's, or anything fancy, just regular coffee. But it's a must-have every day! :)

Thanks for visiting today!!!

Birthday Panda

I have a cute panda sending Birthday wishes for you today! This card was made following the sketch at Your Next Stamp:

The panda is from the YNS set Love and Smiles. I colored him with Spectrum markers, and the sentiment is from the Happy Everything set, and the coordinating Happy die. I paired this with the cute YNS paper pad Hugs and Kisses.

I used black card stock to match the panda, and make the papers really pop. I used some enamel dots and washi tape from my stash to finish it off.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Journal Page

Made a journal page today and am joining the Joy Clair challenge with their Shades of Red theme:

JC Challenge

I sponged the background with Real Red, Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick inks. I used stamps from the Joy Clair set Song of Solomon. To get this look, I spritzed water onto my craft sheet and dabbed the stamp into the water, then stamped onto the page. I used a rag to soak up excess water. I also added some water droplets to the page and let them run down a bit.

I stamped the two hearts at the bottom with Strawberry Slush, and the word stamp comes from the Music Makers set. I also used that set on the tag, which I used up the ink that was on my craft sheet from the sponging.

I will add some photos later to this page, I love how it turned out. Thank you for visiting today!

Quick Tag

The owner of Unity Stamp Co., Angela, posted a video and technique a few days ago on the company FaceBook page. Along with that, she challenged us to make a tag like hers with our own style, and she is offering up a generous prize of stamps. So this is the tag I entered.

I made my own tag with Crumb Cake card stock, punched the corners, and also made/punched the reinforcement hole. The technique was to use a punch as a stencil, and color/sponge inside. I don't have a large enough heart shape, so I went with a circle. I used the same color ink as the card stock.

I chose this adorably cute image from Tracey Malnofski, sold by Unity. I put the tag in my Stamp Perfect tool and inked the Girl image twice to get a good stamping. The sentiment is from the same stamp kit, and I used white craft ink. I think I stamped this one at least 3 times to get it to show up well.

Added some washi, and a small enamel dot to her hair tie, and done. An easy and quick tag to make, with lots of different looks depending on what colors you use.
